IUD & Mirena Insertion

Expert insertion and removal of long-acting reversible contraceptives including IUDs and Mirena devices. These highly effective contraceptive methods offer years of protection with over 99% effectiveness.

Long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) are among the most effective forms of birth control available. Our experienced GPs provide professional insertion and removal services for intrauterine devices (IUDs) including the Mirena hormonal IUD, Kyleena, and copper IUDs. These devices are inserted into the uterus and provide continuous contraception for 3-10 years depending on the type, while remaining completely reversible if you decide to become pregnant.

The Mirena IUD releases a small amount of progestin hormone locally in the uterus, which not only provides excellent contraception but can also reduce heavy menstrual bleeding and period pain. Copper IUDs provide hormone-free contraception and can last up to 10 years. During your consultation, we'll discuss which option is best suited to your individual needs, medical history, and preferences.

The insertion procedure is performed in our clinic and typically takes 10-15 minutes. Most women experience cramping during insertion, but this usually settles quickly. We'll provide detailed aftercare instructions and arrange follow-up appointments to ensure the device is properly positioned and you're comfortable. IUDs can be removed at any time, and fertility returns immediately after removal.
